La Leotardie, Dordogne, France: Rumbowler Wedding.
I bloody LOVE a destination wedding. Especially when the crowd are THIS brilliant. It was a blast from the start of the lead up meeting (Think “croque madame” those who were there!!) to the very end of the craziness (Think band – SEASON- finishing their set and playing real band karaoke for people to sing to). This wedding was beautiful, honest, real and fun.
The venue; La Léotardie in the Dordogne region of France, was simply stunning and had everything you need for the ideal wedding. Emma and Chris, and their squad, adorned it with festoon lights and fairy lights for when the sun went down. And Emma thought to bring a collection of beautiful Moroccan style rugs to use at the ceremony and, later on, at first dance.
As with many destination weddings, there was a pre-wedding BBQ.
The morning of the wedding.
The glorious sun shone down on La Léotardie from the moment I peeled my eyes open. The outdoor dinner would go ahead. We could all breath.
The boys (and honorary bloke Amy) got up to sweep the cobwebs away with a ceremonious dunk in the swap… I mean lake! Ha – don’t let the green hue of the ‘lake’ put you off. I was assured the water was delightful.
The ladies, meanwhile were being pampered upstairs in the bridal suit and Emma got the girls some brilliant gifts. The final touches were made to the decorations and it was time to get wed.
The First Dance
The sparkler lit first dance could not have been more perfect. The Moroccan rugs had been relayed over on the dance floor and everyone swayed with their sparklers, surrounding Emma and Chris, to Rocket Man by Elton John. Not your typical wedding first dance track but it was absolutely perfect and brought everyone together in a rather scary influx of sparkly hugs.
The party took no time at all to get started:
Down to the fact that most people were completely wasted – thanks to the peg game, the dance floor filled up and stayed full. But not only that, the wedding band, Season, were awesome and got everyone up and on their feet. There was all kinds of dancing going on: hands in the air, head shaking, shoulder riding… I even caught some Dad dancing on the outer edges of the dance floor! Later on they let people sing as they played requests which everyone freekin loved that as you can imagine.
