Stone Barn winter weddings are one of my winter weddings of choice. It has to be said it’s a stupendously great venue for winter.
Their great big fireplace make the ceremony room feel so cozy, the stone walls have a lovely, warm yellowy glow about them and for photos there are no end of suitable backdrops indoors and out. Plus the dining area has streams of natural light flooding through the glass panelling, which also enables your guests to look out into the Cotswolds countryside whilst staying warm and cozy inside. As a winter wedding venue Stone Barn delivers on so many levels.
On Claire and Liam’s big day, things started off foggy but blossomed into the most beautiful February day I can remember. The sun felt warm on our faces and even the light looked warm, especially at sunset when the sky glowed a hazy peachy pink. Not bad for a winter wedding!
Once I had spent a little time with the groom over at Cats Abbey, I headed over to The Weatsheaf in to catch up with the bridal party. I was super chuffed to find Evie there, doing hair and makeup – I just love her style. Plus she’s fun to hang around with.
Over at Stone Barn everything was up and running soothly – the fire was lit in the ceremony room and you could see the chefs hard at work in the open kitchen. Claire and Liam had dressed the room beautifully in foliage and copper. In fact Claires dad had made the table plan and all the table place names – so clever! And I loved how they had named their tables after sayings in their Yorkshire and Bristonian dialects. Such a great conversation starter.
In winter you have to take your photo ops when you can… Claire and Liam were happy to pop out for 5 minutes in between courses to get the shots they knew they wanted. It’s like it never happened – they were out and in again quicker than you can say Manolo Bahnik!!
My favourite part of the day was where Claire surprised Liam with her customised leather jacket. He hadn’t realised that Claire would be changing her name and this really cemented the surprise. A leather jacket is a really great, alternative wedding option if you are getting married in winter.
Back inside in the warmth C&L were excited to see their wedding lighting had been installed next to the dancefloor so we took the opportunity to to practices a first dance twirl without any onlookers. Check out that back chain attached to Claire’s stunning wedding dress!
Winter, autumn, spring or summer I LOVE heading out to Stone Barn. If you are planning your wedding there and are looking for a photographer, I’d be delighted to provide you with more info about my packages. Free spirited party folk especially welcome.
