Asylum Chapel & Shoreditch Studios wedding: Rachel & James

Asylum Chapel & Shoreditch studios in ONE wedding!

When Rachel and James decided to tie the knot at both Asylum Chapel AND Shoreditch Studios, they were basically booking two of the coolest, most creative venues in London for their wedding day. Double the venues, double the fun, and let’s just say—there were serious party vibes from start to finish. Keep reading to see how these two spaces came together for one epic day! (And check out all the awesome vendors at the end for some inspo.)

The Photography Timeline: A Custom Approach

I started the day at Asylum Chapel, which was the perfect way to ease into this incredible wedding. Rachel and James were all about capturing the later part of their day—especially the dancefloor energy—so we decided to focus more on the evening shots. We kicked off at noon and wrapped up at 10 pm, and honestly, I’m SO glad they made that call. The photos from the dancefloor are some of my absolute favourites (so make sure you scroll all the way down for those!)

The Ceremony: All About the Atmosphere

Asylum Chapel is one of those places that just looks amazing when the candles are lit, casting a warm, magical glow across the venue’s gorgeous, worn-in walls. Rachel and James couldn’t stop smiling throughout their ceremony—it was clear they were soaking in every moment. A really special touch: they had an uncle and a friend perform a song during the signing of the register. Let me tell you, I wasn’t the only one who had never heard Fly Me to the Moon sung with an operatic voice! Incredible!

Timing at Asylum Chapel: Getting the Shots You Want (and Staying on Track!)

You know that iconic shot everyone wants at Asylum Chapel, the one where it’s just the couple and the chapel’s stunning walls? Of course you do. But how do you actually make it happen without feeling rushed? Here’s where I come in! I’ve got a smooth and specific workflow for shooting at Asylum Chapel that makes sure you get all the portraits, group shots, and those must-have moments, while still having time to sip a drink and catch your ride to the next venue. So if Asylum Chapel’s on your radar, definitely ask me about the timeline when we chat!

Shoreditch Studios: A New Adventure

I was SO pumped for my first wedding at Shoreditch Studios, and it did not disappoint. Nestled in the heart of Shoreditch, the venue is a row of railway arches, all full of history and charm, with a spacious courtyard that you can style exactly how you want. With over a hundred guests in attendance, the space was perfect for Rachel and James’ celebration. Plus, the weather was amazing, so guests sipped drinks in the courtyard while enjoying the fresh air before heading inside for the wedding breakfast.

Evening Fun: Let’s Get This Party Started

James and Rachel knew how to keep the party going, and one of their key moves was serving up Espresso Martinis and Aperol Spritzes to get everyone in the mood for dancing. It was a new experience for some of the family, but guess who jumped right in? Grandpa!
Shoreditch Studios comes with an epic disco ball that made the party vibes go off the charts. The first dance? A total crowd-pleaser, with everyone singing along as Rachel and James bopped to the music. Super clever—and it set the tone for the rest of the night.
