Dunwood Hall: Matt and Tab.
One of my all time favourite weddings, Matt and Tab had a humanist ceremony in a beautiful manor house on the outskirts of Leek in Staffordshire – Dunwood Hall. They were determined from the offset to break all the rules; there was definitely never going to be any sign of a meringue wedding dress or a stuffy morning suit. These guys do things their own way. And with style. Tab walked herself down the aisle – nobody was giving this woman away – and the speeches were done between the two of them, outdoors whilst their guests sat on picnic blankets and the sun set behind them.
With Tab being an English teacher it seems fitting that she, and her maids, ended up looking like nymphs from a Shakespearean play. Tab’s flower crown, with wine red dahlias, brought her look together beautifully and I really loved the relaxed style of Matt. By God he ROCKED those pink trousers.
The venue was stately and impressive inside but it was the gardens that really made this venue – not to mention the fabulous 1920s swimming pool. Thankfully we were blessed with a warm, sunny day and everyone could enjoy lounging around outdoors, taking in the beautiful day.
A special mention has to go out to Cyril and Violet, Tab’s Grandad and Grandma. Sadly, shortly after the wedding Cyril passed away, leaving behind his wonderful wife Violet. Cy (as Tab calls him), from what I saw, was an absolute legend and I feel so humbled to have spent time in his presence. He was clearly adored by the whole family and had a smile upon his face the whole day – you could see he was thoroughly enjoying himself. I hope I’ve captured some shots by which his family can remember him.
So here are a handful of images from a very special day of some very special people.
