Bedfordshire wedding photographer goes to Ericeira…
Who loves a wedding all about love, family and friends?
North of Lisbon, this destination wedding was in the hippie surfer town of Ericeira. On a beach. With salty hair and adventurous spirits. And a crew of Sacha and Rosanna’s nearest and dearest.
OK – so I’m 3/4 of a year behind on my blogging. But I’m so chilly today I just felt like going back to when it was warm. Actually – it was HOT! 34 degrees hot! Hot enough to jump into outdoor pools. Hot enough to wade through the sea. Hot enough to stare blissfully at surfers and wish you were in the ocean too.
I joined Rosanna, and her huge entourage, at the beautiful Villa Valboom for bride prep. Her friends and family were all there with the kids running around the house. Such a lovely atmosphere! The boys were just across from the main house so I caught up with them as they did guy stuff around the pool.
Los Lisandro is an absolutely stunning sandy beach with perfect surfing waves so I knew the beach where the ceremony was to be held was going to be busy. But I actually wasn’t fully prepped for the reality. Hilariously the locals had surrounded the ceremony location, set up their parasols and changed into their speedoes… in a bid to watch the wedding! Rather than completely hide this aspect of the wedding I chose to create some frames that represented this feature of the day, reminding me a little of 80s Martin Parr.
Sach and Rosanna didn’t need talking into an adventure and took on the ‘adventurous spirit’ vibe with enthusiasm. Rosanna hitched up her dress to wade through the sea to get to a rocky island for pics. With which we got so carried away that we almost got stuck – with sea levels riding way above thigh height by the time we hurried back to main land. Can’t say we didn’t make a memory there!
As was fully expected the guys got into the party spirit after the speeches and the sun went down.
