Clare and Gary’s Smeetham Hall Barn Wedding was one I had looked forward to for a long time.
I had known from the very first conversation with these two that they were head over heels with each other, and I love nothing more than photographing two people who aren’t afraid to show it. They had impeccable taste and stuck the classics: black tie for the groom and groomsmen and neutral greys for the bridesmaids, with a stunning white bridal bouquet full of roses and anemones.
Smeetham Hall Barn is a pink wedding venue in the Essex countryside.
The ceremony area is elevated and allows space for the table to be set up in advance, so no ushering of people from place to place.
Gary was there then I arrived and suitably nervous. Little did I know how emotional he was!
The outside space at Smeetham Hall Barn is well cared for. There is a small lake right on the doorstep and if you take a short walk there is a lovely line of trees, perfect for practising your first dance under.
When it comes to confetti my saying is, “Go big, or go home.” And here’s why…. You get THE BEST confetti shot if you get the big fluffy stuff. And get loads of it.
I loved Clare and Gary’s wedding favours: these silly glasses had everyone in hysterics at the wedding breakfast.
Another of my favourites: giant wedding balloons
What is it that I love about an oversized piece of inflated plastic? I have no idea. But I love getting a wedding portrait with them. As well as a cool squad shot.
Back inside Smeetham Hall Barn
As every winter wedding should be, the room was warm and cosy for the evening. The fairy lights added to this cosy vibe and the speeches and then dancing kicked off superbly.
I had such a great time at Clare and Gary’s barn wedding – thanks for having me guys. Love you both.
