Rainy Wedding in Hertfordshire Woodland.
This beautiful rainy wedding didn’t dampen anybody’s spirits. Instead this group of people celebrated the joy and freedom of being in nature with fantastic live music and delicious food.
Yes – it was a rainy wedding. In the way most simple things are the best though – so it was for this woodland wedding. It hardly ever rains all day, and when the rain stops the earth seems abundant with lustre and energy in a way a stiflingly hot day can never be. Do you remember those rainy days when you were a kid? Where you would jump in puddles and delight in the splashes? If you’re set to have a rainy wedding, I would suggest you get into that same spirit.
These guys were having an outdoor ceremony in a woodland clearing and were just happy to go with the flow. There was no essence of Plan -B… it was literally, what will be will be! With a year of lockdown behind us, and a winter season of socialising outdoors, I wonder if we will see more hardiness and people throwing caution to the wind when faced with the prospect of a rainy wedding day?
There’s something about the earth, after the rain. It seems to glow in a newly lush way. The weather Gods smiled on us and sent some glorious sunshine ready for the confetti walk through. They were also kind enough to hold off whilst we did a few quick portraits in the woodland.
At this point I didn’t know if I’d convinced the woodland groundsman to leave a wondrous swathing of ferns that he had been about to mow down, until we had used them for portraits. I am, to this day, still thankful that I saw him, had the courage to ask him not to mow them down and that he was kind enough to do so.
The Big Top Reception
It was over the road and to the local pub where these souls had erected a Big Top style tent for the festivities. The rain was kind enough o wait until we got there before it came down in sheets. I just love the laughter and joy that continued through the celebrations… a bit of rain wasn’t going to stop these lot!
Rainy wedding cont…
Yes the rainy wedding vibe continued into the evening…. but did it dampen these guys’ spirits? Did it heck! The live music was on point and dance they did until dawn. If a wedding big top could jump, then this one would have. They certainly aimed to raise the roof.
So don’t worry if you think you might have a rainy wedding day.
What do you have to do? OK – so there are precautions you can take…. have pretty umbrellas to hand for you and your guests, be prepared to get a little wet or even muddy!?!? Remind yourself about what really matters. Do you want to let something you can’t control get you down and worry about your hair getting messed up? Or are you gonna wander through the woodland barefooted and dance until dawn? I know which sounds like more fun.
